Draugr project born in a cold winter night of Anno Bastardi 2002 when the ashes of some black metal bands returned back to life to celebrate the pagan spirit that characterizes our lives and our homeland.
The first formation was oriented to an old-sytile black metal inspired by Dark Throne, Immortal and Marduk, and as the name of the band says there was a lot of inspiration from nordic culture, that gave birth to our musical genre. At that time Draugr had no name, it was composed by Svafnir, Stolas, Jonny and Tenebrion, this one due to personal motivations, left the band, and followed a period of crisis because all the musicians that wanted to play with us weren't really motivated. But the true spirit of Draugr born with the final configuration of the formation so we can hear Svafnir (vocals and composition),Triumphator(all guitars and composition), Stolas (bass guitar), Jonny (drums and percussions) and little by little the band built its style: thrashing folk pagan-black metal.
As the wolf caracterizes the horde region, music is inspired by the pagan force and wilderness of nature, the remembrance of archaic traditions, old local legends and barbarism, united with a proud satisfaction to be descendant of ancient italic warriors like Samnites, Marsii, Vestinii and Marrucinii.
During the recordings of the first demos, Draugr began to play concerts with many underground italian black metal bands, followed the recording of a promo and finally the full lenght cd "Nocturnal Pagan Supremacy".
In 2005 Draugr formed with other bands the Vrasthema circle (http://vrasthema.interfree.it) to honour the music from Abruzzo (a region in the center of Italy) and show to all the world the beauty of this pagan land.
in 2007 Helsior joined the horde, at the same time, between 2007-2009, the band composed the material for the upcoming cd "De ferro italico", scheduled for 2010
Year by year, the importance for live performance growth and the horde had more live shows, headlining some gigs ,sharing the stage with well-known italian (as HANDFUL OF HATE, FEARBRINGER, DISGUISE, FOLKSTONE) and foreign cult band (as HORNA, NARGAROTH, RAGNAROK, MANEGARM)
