Part 1: The Origin Of The Name 'Despu Palliton'
The name DESPU PALLITON comes from a dream

"I was on a two week vacation from New York City, mostly because of my visa, visiting my parents and friends.

I remember very vividly that I had been to a Möped Lads concert at the Boa Bar, Lucerne, 10th March 2000. The whole night was energizing, loud, fun - a big binge. Some of us (musicians everyone) ended up in a 'Polish cathouse', a nearby train station, where we didn't bang, but drink some more canned beer with Polish and Russian women.

When I got to the trains a few hours later, I was in perfect condition for a good morning sleep. I fought myself into the train and crashed immediately.

The sleep was good. I wasn't physically uncomfortable, nor stressed out by anything else really. Onboard were only a few nothingsayers. The train pulled his own weight through the landscape towards the white mountains, as peaceful as it can be.

All of a sudden I woke up, talking to myself.

Now I had this beautiful panorama in front of me. Lake Zug underneath, quiet in the cold, clear winter air, and right behind the still waters, the snowed hills of Arth, increasingly growing into the upcoming, well known mountains of my old homeland, central Switzerland.

Contemplating the scenery, I had this word on my tongue, and I realized that I had woken up because of that word.

Still pretty much beside of myself, I grabbed pen and paper to write it down mechanically. It read: DES PU PALLITON.

Those letters had an incomprehensible sense, a sound. It felt like someone had whispered them to me from another world. It had its impact on me.

It had me."

Part 2: Our Music

These days, there's too much talking about the hundreds and thousands of styles played by the huge number of existing bands around the globe.

Despu Palliton is not here to explain. The Band is here to play.

This group was formed to play and express all the feelings a human being can have. Words and music are written to deal with, and to get rid of certain issues - issues that trouble the writer.

The Band was formed out of deepest passion for music.

Despu Palliton built its musical foundation on rock music of the late sixties and hardrock of the mid-seventies, generally speaking. A million songs from Mars to Venus and back again may have influenced the band. There really is no rule.

It's all about doing our own thing, with no interest in the sellout that is taking place in the so called commercial music world.

What counts most is the best possible result of a song.

If this is achieved, the band is happy. Playing those songs live on stage, will hopefully make the listeners happy too.

The styles and ways of the future are all open.

The music of Despu Palliton is allowed to fail in everybody else's opinion, because it's made from people who do fail, once in awhile. It's all about living life the best possible way, and about honesty.

Well, here you have it. This is Despu Palliton.

Biography Part 3: The Band

Aldo Betschart was the founding member of Verwaint in 1988; a so called 'Nature Core' Band from Muotathal, central Switzerland. As with Despu Palliton, he wrote the songs, played guitar and sang.
Verwaint practiced their unique Thrash/Hardcore/Rock music for more than eleven years and performed on various stages. They recorded and published 1 demo and 3 CDs. Although Verwaint ain't nothing more than history, their music as well as their 'cult' reputation lives on.
After a long term sickness that became very serious, ending with heavy surgery, Aldo left Muotathal in 1999 to live and work in New York City (he had been in the States before).
He wanted to clear his head and soul. He stayed in New York for one and a half years; writing, jobbing, tattooing, playing the drums. In 2001 he got back and settled in Zurich, where he looked forward to realize his dream of the Despu Palliton band.

Dani Koblet from Zurich is hitting the drums since the late 80s. He used to play (Wisdom, Captain Future and the Swisskiss, Maraxofax, Böd, Aamatong,) and still plays (F.O.A.) in various bands.
Enjoying shouting vocals, versatile style, and appropriate, concrete thoughness in sound, he found Aldo and a piece of homeland in an ad.

Simon Janett played in a number of different bands too. He learned to use his four-string left-handed bass in groups like Probably Famous (Beatles covers), Velvet Mood (funk rock), B.C. Experiment (crossover), and Frail (melodic grunge rock) – which was the band he was in when he met Dani for the first time in September 2003, at a soccer match in the Letzigrund stadium, Zurich.
Sitting next to each other, they had a chat. Frail looked out for another band to perform with, and right there, Dani was! Soon after, Simon went to check out Despu Palliton at one of their rehearsals, (with Valentin Tscharner on bass at that time) and lo and behold – today he's in the band. He was a fan right from that moment, and he became the best match for Despu Palliton.
