Biografia : Despair (GER)

Thrash Metal band DESPAIR formed in Dortmund during 1986 with vocalist Robert Kampf. A demo, 'Surviving You Always', was recorded in 1988. The group swapped Kampf shortly after the release of the Waldemar Sorychta and Harris Johns produced 'History Of Hate', recorded at Mohrmann Studios and Music Lab Studios, for new vocalist Andreas Henschel in 1988 as the former became head of record label Century Media. Alongside Kampf, DESPAIR at this juncture involved guitarists Marek Grzeszek and Waldemar Sorychta, bass player Klaus Pachura with Markus Freiwald on drums. CD versions of 'History Of Hate' added the bonus track 'Never Trust'. The DESPAIR song 'Rainbow Fools' found inclusion on the 1989 Nuclear Blast compilation set 'The Pleasures In Life'. DESPAIR were perennials on the German Metal scene having opened for the likes of DEATH and DEATH ANGEL even before landing a deal. With a record under their belts further touring in Europe ensued as guests to acts such as ANNIHILATOR and OVERKILL. DESPAIR issued 'Decay Of Humanity' in 1990. Sorychta began to carve out a formidible reputation as a producer too, making his commercial debut with another artist on UNLEASHED's May 1991 album ''Where No Life Dwells'. DESPAIR's last outing, 'Beyond All Reason', arrived in January 1992. Drummer Markus Freiwald joined KREATOR and VOODOOCULT. Guitarist Waldemar Sorychta founded GRIP INC. with ex-SLAYER drummer DAVE LOMBARDO. As an accomplished producer in his own right, Sorychta has racked up credits with TIAMAT, THE GATHERING, LACUNA COIL, FLOWING TEARS, MOONSPELL and SAMAEL amongst many others.
