DBL was founded 2007 by at that time 17/18-year-old Michael, Oleg and Kirill. At the beginning, they wrote and performed songs in gothic metal/metalcore style which is still unostentatiously present in their newest songs. Later on, being influenced by such bands as In Flames, Soilwork and Disarmonia Mundi, their songs became evermore energetic and powerful. 2009 DBL encompassed 6 members and recorded a demo which in fact also included some death metal elements. In spite of or yet because of the stylistic uniqueness the band was not particularly appealing to a broader circle of listeners. Critics remained reluctant as well. At the same time, members of DBL were already overstrained by the speed and alternations within the songs. Admittedly, daring in songwriting is not necessarily the very foundation of success, but for DBL it has always been and is its distinguishing mark and will at all times continue to be an essential part of its identity. It is not about presenting talent by means of some advantageously selected elements but rather about its unconditionality. This attitude persisted until 2010 and the newest songs induced DBL to curtail the band's line up to Michael and Oleg, which has been foreseeable for many a long day. Now, they are about to record "Inhale the Mountain Air", which will represent a sort of an alloy of their old style with death- and some grindcore elements and texts influenced by the works of Hegel and Nietzsche.
