ARTIST BIO

It's not often that a band rises up and creates a brutal, vicious sound that serves as a declaration of war with the mediocrity of modern day metal, but Death Before Dying manages to do just that. Drawing the battle lines with a furious vengeance, DBD faithfully translate their influences and retain the core principles of their predecessors while creating a new genre of music altogether, incorporating their unique style to craft artfully arranged tales of mayhem and darkness. The core foundation and execution of their sound calls to mind bands such as Death, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel and the like all while forging ahead with the elements that make Death Before Dying innovative and exciting. The prevalent musicianship is a key factor to their success in accomplishing this, and one would be hard pressed to find a rival for the technical prowess displayed by DBD among their peers or otherwise.

Birthed out of the dissolution of noted middle Tennessee outfits such as Embodiment, Deadlock, 20 Saw You Die, and Resurrection Through Adversity, Death Before Dying came about in 2007 as the new project of scene veteran Grim. Such a display of technical excellence and a bombastic, entertaining live show is hard to ignore, and Death Before Dying quickly became accepted into the metal music scene, sharing the stage with names of consequence right off the bat. Garnering praise from grizzled vets of the often serious heavy metal contingent is no simple task, yet DBD has done exactly that. Jonathan Thompson (of Atheist, Gnostic, and Lume) had this to say "I liked it alot... pretty damn brutal!....You can hear the bands that influenced them in their writing, but its impressive how they still made it their own...".

MORE ABOUT DEATH BEFORE DYING

Death Before Dying has demonstrated a progressive understanding of modern metal, and pioneered a unique section of the genre. Intricately woven polyrhythms weaving in and out of complex time signatures support texture upon texture of frenetic guitar attack, all under a growl fierce enough to pierce the heavens. These qualities have resounded with many industry professionals, and have led to several highly sought after endorsements (Krank amps, Fernandes guitars, Basson sound equipment, Maxon/Godlyke Inc, and Coffin Case). With a demo ("No One Was Spared Not Even The Children", 2008) and a 4-song EP ("Battle Hymns", 2009) under their belt, Death Before Dying aim to expand the range of their battle cry with the forthcoming "Creatures of Opportunity" LP. DBD team up again with producer Brian Elliot (Graves of Valor, The Absence, Catalepsy, also recorded aforementioned EP "Battle Hyms") for the effort, being recorded at MANA studios and currently slated for worldwide release July 27, 2010 on Blast Zone Records. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears open for the offering and don't miss the chance to catch the innovative, energetic live show experience that is Death Before Dying.
