Crystal Myth was formed in the summer of 1989 when Brian & Rich, from Brampton, were introduced to John Scott & Greg, from Oshawa, through Brian's sister. Thus began a six year evolution of a band which started out as a progressive metal band with classic metal & NWOBHM influences, to an alternative metal band with grunge influences.

Writing constantly & recording numerous original songs on a 4 track, Crystal Myth finally entered the studio in 1991 to record a self-titled demo of 5 tracks and again in 1992 to record the demo "Birth" consisting of 4 tracks. They returned to the studio in 1993 to record a third demo as Blame it on Jesus. The demo tracks were only half completed when the band ran out of money and had to put the project on hold. Sadly the studio which they were recording in (Studio A in Brampton) closed down shortly after, and Blame it on Jesus broke up a little more than a year after that. The half completed demo was transferred to digital tracks by second drummer Jeff (now a recording engineer) but remains unfinished. A video of one of the songs: "Crave" was made by guitarist Rich (now a multimedia designer) using a live off the floor recording from an 8 track made by Mike Mercier the band's former sound engineer for their live shows.
