Formed in early 2007 by friends Francesco Montoni and Anthony Buonomo, Beneath A Blackened Sky is a mixture of Long Island's finest underground metal musicians. Though the band itself is young, the members are no strangers to the hardcore scene.
Anthony has been picking the nickel since age 13. He'd played for a band called Pandora and recorded his own music on the side. He and Francesco struck up a conversation one day and began to jam together. They decided to start a new project and Beneath A Blackened Sky was born.
Steve J. Marinaro started his ascension into music at the tender age of 10. Cutting his teeth on the likes of Vinnie Paul and John Bonham, he quickly became a furious force in the art of percussion. Since he and Francesco had a prior history as band mates in Comatose and Murder In The Choir, he was the obvious choice to pound skins for this new metal manifestation.
Chris Genosa jumped into the mix after years of practicing guitar leads over punk and lounge music. His brutal riffs and surgical licks gave him the juice he needed to get inducted into the lineup. But, as the guys jammed in Chris' living room day after day, they realized there was a pure chemistry between them that needed the perfect front man.
Enter Mikey Peranio. Hailed as one of today's best hardcore vocalists by the likes of Mistress Juliya, Mikey fronted Long Island's SinAria for four years. The band toured extensively, opening for Biohazard, All That Remains, 36 Crazy Fists , 3 Inches Of Blood, Unearth, In This Moment, Dead To Fall and others. When Sinaria went their separate ways, he was approached to growl for Beneath A Blackened Sky and the perfect lineup was complete.
After less than a year of playing together and a few live shows, the band decided it was time to start recording a demo. They immediately caught the attention of Producer and CEO of MEI Records, Anthony Paganini. After a few recording sessions, Anthony decided they were too good to pass up and the band was signed.
Currently, Beneath A Blackened Sky is in the studio recording their debut album The Art Of Suffering. This powerful first release promises to raise the bar for hardcore and place its creators in the annals of the great architects of metal.
