Biography :

In 2001, Richard and Chris formed a band by the name of Dark Fusion. Richard playing both guitar and singing and Chris playing drums. This band was together for a year but after numerous line up changes and hard times getting going Chris decided to leave Dark Fusion to join a band by the name of Bombthreat.

At this same time, Bombthreat had just gone through some line up changes of its own consisting of a three piece guitar, bass, and vocal. This included George and Steve... They recruited the drum services of Chris who joined them in 2002. Bombthreat was more of a live party band playing parties and a few venues. After about a year of playing with Bombthreat, Chris expressed some of his concerns about lack of practice and lack of live shows. So he made the decision to join forces with his former comrade Richard who was in a band at the time that was not doing anything at the time but writing music.

In the summer of 2003, the two then made a proposal to Steve to leave Bombthreat and start a new band as a three piece with plans to find a singer. They began practicing and Steve began teaching his Bombthreat songs to Richard. After the lack of success of finding a singer, the band decided to continue forward with Bombthreat vocalist George the lineup was complete. George on Vocals, Steve on Guitars and Keyboards, Richard on Bass guitar, and Chris on Drums. The band began fine tuning the songs kept from the Bombthreat days and writing new material for the as yet untitled band.

The three main members of the band which were Steve, Richard "Ancient Malus" and Chris began, throwing around titles for the band. Eventually Steve came up with the name Ancient Malus.
And it stuck with them Ancient Malus played its first live show at a party in November 2003. In December of 2003, they began playing live venues.

In February of 2004, the band recorded and released their first demo cd. Prior to that none of the band members had ever recorded or released anything. Demo 1 Blood Of The War was originally released with the simple title of Demo 1.

The band however was going through issues. The three main members of the band would practice, create new music, book and play live shows. But George was carrying over the same issues from Bombthreat that plagued the band which led to the creation of Ancient Malus. George never came to practice and he would use improvisation to create lyrics on the fly at live shows. He even began missing shows and the band would be forced to play instrumental. So, at this time, knowing that this would continue to be an issue Ancient Malus, Richard began doing backup vocals on a regular basis. The band also begun the search for a new singer. George and the band had made a mutual agreement for him to split the band but continue singing until the acquisition of a new singer. Unfortunately one night in March 2004 during an argument between band members George abruptly left the band and they were without a vocalist. They were forced to play their remaining shows instrumental. After fear of upsetting the chemistry of the band, they decided to have Steve and Richard work on their vocals. Richard eventually became the new lead singer for Ancient Malus taking on double duties of vocals and bass. At this same time, Chris had to deal with his little brother bothering him to play keyboards for the band. Danny began playing the keyboards on his own in hopes of joining Ancient Malus sometime in the future. He did not have to wait long. He was a dedicated roadie for Ancient Malus but, sometimes, the band had trouble getting him in to shows for free to help set up so they decided to list him as the keyboard player. And it just stuck and he was the permanent keyboardist. The new and permanent Ancient Malus had been formed. They played a warm up party to showcase the new line up and had their first official show in front of a large audience at the Texas Metal Fest opening for the Likes of Flotsam & Jetsam, Reverend, and Shadowkeep.

In October 2004, the band entered the studio to record their second demo with their new line up. This time period was a very important time for the band. Steve created the myspace site, Ancient Malus opened for Mortician, and the band released their second demo. Increasing their popularity by leaps and bounds. Demo 2 Liberated From Tyranny was release on Halloween Night at the White Rabbit.

Ancient Malus spent most of 2005 building their fan base, writing new music, and branching out of San Antonio. In December 2005 Demo 3 Taking the Throne : Live Tyranny had been released as a request only demo.

Then in January 2006, the band re-released demo 2 in the form of demo 2.5 Liberated From Tyranny (Revised). In February 2006, came the creation of RR-336 Productions which is a small promotion created by one of the band members. In August of 2006, the band announced the creation of a side project by the name of Ejakulator. Also in October 2006, the opening of a new headshop by the name of Pigstagg came about. Coowned by one of the members of Ancient Malus. During November of 2006, Ancient Malus original drummer Naberus came to a decision to leave the band. It was a mutual decision by both sides. One day later his younger brother and Ancient malus keyboardist Thorn announced that he would also be leaving the band.

Ancient Malus had begun the process of recording their debut album in the summer of 2006 but, due to the lack of commitment and time, the album is currently unfinished. However, the album will resume recording in mid December 2006 and the album will have a hopeful release for early 2007. Writing for the second album has already begun as well. Ancient Malus has announced a new drummer Alex Carillo (Disembowel,Scumby) and now a new Keyboardist Samuel G. (also know as Lord Ansenerath - Angelflesh, The Tyranny).
