Having spent a lot of time in recording studios as a musician and recording artist, Tommy Newton became aware of his interest in production and engineering.
His big breakthrough as a producer came in 1987 when he produced what is now a regarded as a rock milestone in the music history - the album "Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I"by Helloween which sold over 1.5 million copies and in 1988 Tommy produced Helloween's "Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II", which went on to have even greater success than than "Keeper 1", selling over 1.8 million copies.
After spending the next few years working in studios in the USA, Tommy decided to create a private studio for himself and in 1990 `"Stairway to Heaven Studios" in Hannover was built . Initially intended for his own songwriting and recording purposes, he found that due to the demand for his work as a producer, he was producing other bands there too.

It soon became apparent that he would need a bigger studio and in 1997 he found the perfect facility to make his studio in Celle where he had the space to create a studio based on his vision, in terms of recording , acoustics, mixing and mastering ….. Area 51 Recording Studios.

Over the years Tommy's achievements have been globally recognised and awarded with Gold Records, Golden Reels Award and various other worldwide nominations for his work as a producer.
