Michael Briggs is a producer and engineer based in Denton, Texas, as well as the owner and operator of Civil Recording. He has won multiple awards for his work (e.g. The Denton Arts & Music Awards, or DAM) over the years.

He also founded a live session music website called the Violitionist Sessions in 2009, where bands passing through Denton can perform and record three songs at a time. Acts include Kylesa, Tombs, A Storm Of Light, and Locrian.
