Matt Mehana and Nabil Moo started the idea of I Set My Friends On Fire when they were very young. Matt became the vocalist who used both clean and screamed vocal techniques. After releasing some songs on MySpace, Matt was signed to Epitaph when he was only seventeen years old.
Through Epitaph, the duo released their debut album "You Can't Spell Slaughter Without Laughter" in 2008. When asked in an interview, Matt said that the goal for the band was to push the envelope and produce new original music that nobody's heard before. This is certainly what the band has become famous for, due to the combination of Matt's unique screamed vocals with heavy electronic influences.
This status is what the band is still known for in the present day, and Matt is still delivering his signature vocal style. Matt's aims are clear; to bring fans original, creative music.
