Mako has always been secretive with his personal life although many think that the melancholy dark and often depressing lyrics of Deadman may relate to it.

When the band broke up in 2007, without any explanation, there were many speculations on why this could be ranging from mako becoming and actor to him deciding to become a christian. He has since released a single solo track called buried with the light on which he collaborated with former Malice Mizer guitarist kozi, but has otherwise remained absent from the music scene.

He cites bands such as Marilyn Manson, Motley Crüe and X-Japan as major influences.
