Hailing from Arizona ‘
The Irish Front’ are a 4-piece metal band made up of two vocalist/keyboardists, 1 guitarist and 1 drummer. They have been together since 2006 and now, 2 years later, have released there debut album ‘
Universe’ on S.O.A.R and Ferret (depending where you live). To describe ‘
Universe’ in one word is impossible, at many points this album feels almost heavenly with jazzy guitars, female guest vocals and tight smooth drumming, at other points I feel as if my ears are going to burst and I may just have to throw it down in the middle of the street and then at other times I feel as if my sides will split with strange tracks that you just have to hear to believe.
The album opens up with ‘Galaxy Milk’ followed quickly by fan-favourite ‘Chicago Typewriter’ and right now to myself I’m hoping for more, sure the song is good but it’s not exactly new. I hope to myself that something more will come and luckily, soon after, my prayers are answered !
‘Monsterbation’ opens up with the track title spoken in a slow, monstrous voice which leads straight into the riotous vocals and angry composition, much like a lot of the album, then one minute and thirty seconds into the album, everything takes a melodic twist and we are treated to some female vocals and a slowed down jazzy music piece, complete with piano and (for a moment) you forget where you are and it slowly sinks in that ‘Hey, this works !’ and quickly this is torn away and the blast beats return heralded by a small metal riff that almost feels like it’s saying ‘We now return to ‘
The Irish Front’’ and I am happy to be home. Not everything is perfect and even though I love ‘Boom Snap Clap’ (now with added rap, I’d perhaps prefer more brand new tracks) also some people may not be find the humour in ‘
Suck Fart Tootorial’ or ‘Teenage
Whore Moans’ but each to their own and in my opinion even if a couple tracks are dated this a very solid album.
The album then keeps throwing curve balls at me, it kills me that there aren’t more albums like this, it has it’s humour yet it is technically well done that I can’t fault it, ‘
The Irish Front’ are fresh faced and new and have far too go with an age range of 17-19 there is so far they can go.
