I have to say this straight from the beginning. This is not a very good album. It is in fact a major let down. I was expecting more. Much more.
Why is my disappointment so much? Let me tell you about a group called Her
Whisper and there album "Great Unifier" who I reviewed some year ago.
That was a really nice album filled with atmosphere and GOOD songs. I do not know what happend next but only two member is left of that group. Vocals
Magnus Af Nestergard and rythmus-section Ken Gilbert and a new bass (which is once again switched - how confused??)
They are instead DARK DESIGN, not HER WHSIPER any longer.
The art on cover fools one into think this will be in the genre of old band, maybe even progressive metal (Like
Dream Theatre, Kamlath uzw) but it proves wrong. Gone is the catchy hooks and melodies. Now there are endless and bland carpets of uninspired riffs sounding exactly the same?!
Gone is the varied drums playing. Prepare for the simplest of rock.
Gone is the vocals I liked some much. The singer tries all to often to be in areas
he should stay away from. I still enjoy some lower singing but overall this is clearly a worst effort so far.
Gone is all keyboard except for one intro. Ironically on the weakest song. So again, not for fans of previous album.
All songs on "Time Is an
Illusion" sound very much the same to me.
First track opening with a lone singer sounds great at first but get tired real quick.
And it goes on and on.
Sorry guys. Not for me.
