I have to admit I have a weak spot for Polish Black
Metal. I love
Graveland,
Infernum,
Thunderbolt etc. But only the early stuff. This resurrectic version of
Infernum without Anextionmarus is total bullshit to me. I know there is a lot of shit said about him but I still think he made some of the best Polish Black
Metal ever with "Damned
Majesty" and "Taur nu fuin." I lost interest in
Graveland after hearing "
Immortal Pride" only recently did I hear "A will stronger than death" which slightly caught my interest again though my heart didn't beat like when I was listening "1000 swords." I'm not so much into the whole political thing as I am into the music which has such a dark and unique atmosphere.
Veles already released a killer demo called "The
Triumph of
Pagan Beliefs" on which
Blasphemous really belts out some gruesome screams. On this album his vocals are more croaking, it reminds me a bit of
Darken. I like his older vocals better. Luckily I know he takes them up again on "Black Hatefull metal."
"
Night on the Bare
Mountain" is defenitely
Veles most folkish album. On several tracks the song breaks into a suble drumming and acoustic bits. I especially like these parts on "
Born of darkness." "
Majesty of war" is a fast track that was also on their previous demo. I can't reallly say which version I prefer.
This whole album has the real polish charm, including of beat drums. One of my favorite tracks is "My pagan fatherland (evil power's night)" such a dark haunting atmosphere with the typical
Darken synths. All in all a great output for fans of Polish Black
Metal!
