Crítica @ Lord_Sauron

03 Julho 2008
Demo opener, "Pessimus" is the only song about history on this demo. It is about Croatian duke Domagoj, called "The Worst Cratian Duke" (Najgori Hrvatski Knez) by people of Venice. And demo title also comes from this song, as "Pessimus Dux Croatorum" means "Najgori Hrvatski Knez" in Latin.

Demo consists of 3 tracks, 2 of them are heavy metal songs and 1 is acoustic ballad. Overall music is very much influenced by 80's metal and NWOBHM. All songs are in Croatian, unlike their first demo, and production is much better.

"Pessimus" is slower of 2 metal songs and the best song on this demo. This is also the longest one on this demo. It starts with mid tempo, Sabbath-esque riff and some backing vocals. Shortly after, lead vocalist starts singing. He did pretty good job, and he improved his singing since last demo (2005). The best part of song is surely chorus and you will probably catch yourself singing "pessimus dux Croatorum" after listening to demo. There is also great riff during the chorus, slightly faster than the intro riff. Solo isn't especially technical, but it isn't so important, as it sounds very good. Song ends with more powerfully singed chorus and main riff.

"Osobni Pakao" is faster than "Pessimus" and is almost as good as it. Opening riff is very catchy and NWOBHM influenced. Verses are similar to ones from previous song, but when it comes to chorus, Berislav sings some very high notes, which remind me of Siniša Vuco on Witchcraft's 1988 album "Eternal Sea". Solo on this song is faster and even better that solo on "Pessimus". Song ends with chorus and one longer high note. Maybe this song should be longer, but it isn't so important.

Demo closer is acoustic ballad "Vrisak", and the first ballad Soundbringer wrote. Intro riff on this song is not bad but too long, if you ask me. Only instruments used on this one are vocals and acoustic guitar. Berislav isn't good on this song as he is on other ones, but isn't half bad. Guitar work is good, but song lacks drums very much. It is surely the worst song on this demo, but is still not terrible. There are also two high notes in the end, which are probably best part of this average song.

To sum up, this is probably the best demo released in 2007 in Croatia and it is worth buying or at least listening on MySpace. Give this band a chance, it is worth of it.
