Crítica @ Dr.Feelgood

05 Novembro 2010
Only two years have passed since the previous album The King of Hell and now the Kings of U.S. power metal Helstar are back with a new one Glory of Chaos which gives us something that we have missed for many years. Every album of Helstar is a masterpiece like A Distant Thunder or Nosferatu and they are the teachers of techinal power that makes any album unique so not to be regarded as commercial. Glory of Chaos is THE album, is an authentic album of U.S. power/speed metal!

"Angels fall to hell" is the first track that graps you at once and doesn't let you to pass it by without listening to it about four times. Just listen to the introduction, slow like a warning for what comes next and then you hear what you wished for! All the songs except the last track have dangerous riffs ready for attack and fast enough to leave you with your mouth open. Great examples are the songs "Monarch of bloodshed" a typical Helstar song from the good old days, "Bone crusher", "Dethtrap" and "Anger". Helstar don't have any disadvantages in this albums, all the songs are heard as they should be!

In Glory of Chaos the clues of technical power are obvious through the songs "Monarch of bloodshed", "Trinity of heresy" and "Alma negra". You are listening to them and your smile never ends! In "Alma negra" you will hear James Rivera screaming and singing so extremely that you will be surprised, I have never heard him singing like this. Also in this album James reminds us that screaming is good only in some moments and not all the time.

Despite the agression that almost all the songs have, the sign of melody exists in here, in the middle of "Trinity of heresy" where guitars and the main voice show us their melodic sides and in the last track "Zero one" which lasts only 56 seconds. I think that this song is the right relaxed exit from an album which is so power, so kinda thrash/speed that it's not easy to stop banging your head!

If this album had been recorded before 25 years many people would have tried to describe it as a thrash/speed album and that because in 1986 the nomination power metal wasn't known in America at least. After three years thrash/speed had changed to U.S. power and Helstar have showed that style better than anyone else! Glory of Chaos is their best achievement since Nosferatu. The King of Hell was a nice endeavor, but it can not be compared with this perfect creation and the word Chaos is the best one to describe this album, always on a good meaning!

Behold the Kings of Stars!!
