Crítica @ Victim_of_Deception

07 Setembro 2009
A tough exterior is present to this band’s wares and shows them enjoying playing within the restrictive boundaries of the hardcore genre a lot.  Thus we can see them pounding out some aggressive rhythms that have a sort of inferno to unleash beneath them with great aplomb.  The songs have enough momentum to carry themselves into greater lengths of time as they show enough twists and turns to keep the person listening attentive despite a really short running length here with only three tracks to keep up the pace.
The song “Course of a Coward” brings all of the elements they’re striving for together with a molten sound that ignites your pulse.   The songs feature enough little nuances for hardcore music, a genre that I often find somewhat one-dimensional.  The music is also exciting enough in its own right to catch your attention.  Grindy rhythms overtake the majority of the rhythms and make for a potent aggressive outpouring.  We can see The Perennial moulded into a specific type of music by their style.  There is definitely enough energy here to create something exciting in as raw a manner as possible.
A little more room for experimentation might have benefitted this band, had they been allowed to explore every nook and cranny of their music more freely.   Thus the listener is left wishing slightly for a more open-ended approach to the style they’re performing though you can see the potential the band has greatly available.  As it stands, one can derive some pretty solid hardcore out of this offering although I wish there was more of it to be found.  Recommended to people looking for an abrasive, energy filled outing.
