After nearly 6 years, Springfield Illinois' first real
Death Metal band, What
Thou Will, has finally released their debut album,
Diabolical Debauchery, since these guys are local to me, and i've seen them live before, i have somewhat of a soft spot for them.
The opening intro track features some eery voice clips, and a short burst of Melodic-esque guitars before heading into the first track of the album, "stray from the
Path", which feature some great, old school
Death guitar riffs, along with a sporadic and a slayer-influenced guitar solo (though the solo sounds almost identical to the one on the song "Priest of
Burden"). the next song cAnswer, features some great drumming by Buddy Jackson, who does a great job at keeping pace with the rest of the intruments throughout the album. The rest of the album continues the same
Death Metal pace up until the last track, which is titled "Sakmaphet, the
God of
Rotting Genitalia" which is their stand-out trademark song, with rhythms that have gotten stuck in my head for hours after listening to it.
If you like underrated, localized, death metal with alot of
Deicide-influenced Lyrics, make sure to check out this release.
And if you're near or around the Central Illinois area, make sure to see them live sometime, they put on a killer live show, along with the many other great local bands,
Suffer The Wrath,
Decimation, After the
Burning, Enthronement, and a helluva lotta other bands.
