Fireball Ministry (VO)

interview Fireball MinistryCan you tell me the story of the Band ?
Fireball Ministry was formed in 1998 by James Rota (guitar/vocals) and myself (Emily Burton-guitar). Our first record "Ou Est La Rock?' came out in 1999, followed by "The Second Great Awakening" in 2003. We have a new record called "Their Rock Is Not Our Rock," and our rhythm section is John Oreshnick (drums) and Johny Chow (bass).

What's the meaning of your band's name?
Fireball Ministry is the name of a real church in Cincinnati, Ohio where James and I went to school. They would broadcast their servcies on television and were very "fire and brimstone." We liked the name for our band because we feel about heavy metal the way alot of people feel about their religions. It's more than just music- it's a lifestyle.

Can you tell me more about your last record “Their rock is not your rock”?
The new rec
interview Fireball Ministryord was produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters). I don't think it's a departure from our other records. It's heavy rock that you can sing along with and it's good for a party.

Can you explain us the Name of your last record?
"Their Rock Is Not Our Rock" is an abbreviated version of a bible verse from the Book of Deuteronomy. It was written on the back of a program from a friend's wedding and we thought it applied to our music. We're basically saying that we're not trying to be the flavor of the week and that we don't follow trends; we make the music that we make.

Why did you choose a french name for your first record?
A friend of ours told us a story about how he had been in Paris looking for a particular jazz club, running around the city saying "Ou est le jazz?" We called our record "Ou Est La Rock?" because at that time there weren't alot of bands play
interview Fireball Ministrying straightforward rock. There was alot of dance music and hip hop but no one was rocking.

Your more rock/stoner but what is the spirit of metal for you?
The spirit of metal for me is bands like Judas Priest, Diamond Head, old Metallica, Megadeth, Mercyful Fate- bands that play music that sounds tough and makes you want to party. Bands who set their own terms, do their own thing and play what they want to play.

When will come in France?
Soon if all goes well. We've done quite a bit of touring through the US on this record so Europe is where we would like to go next. The record came out a few months earlier in the States.

What's tour best memory with the band?
We recently got to open for Judas Priest in Michigan.

Thank, the last word is your……….
Keep It Heavy.
