Winterlore was formed early 2005 when Atrus and Thorolf decided to leave their current death metal project. After they had some structure to their first song (most of the lyrics and guitar riffs on Seasons of Mist) their friend Thorstein came over and heard it and said "No more tryouts I'm in the band! Any objections?" From then on he played bass for Winterlore. The first 3 songs were written.

They then decided to switch up the line-up to have a full band. Atrus went from Guitar to Drums, Thorolf went from just Vocals to Vocals and Bass, and Thorstein went from Bass to Guitar. In that fashion they wrote one more song and released the Demo (Only 50 Released World Wide). After they released the Demo Atrus lost his love for the True Underground so they decided the best move was for him to leave.

Since, Thorstein and Thorolf have keep the band alive and are working on new material for the Full Length Album.

They play music to express their Love for Scandanavia and Viking Culture, and their Hate for the people who have ruined their heritage! Their main influences are Bathory, Darkthrone, Immortal, Burzum, Isengard, Graveland, and Drudkh.
