Winds Of Torment is a melodic death metal band based at St-Etienne (42), France. It was born of the association of guitarist Bertrand and Drummer Jean-François in 2000, who had been playing together in other non-metal bands before.

At that time, they meet guitarist Jerome and introduce him into the band. They start then to play some Pantera covers. Winds Of Torment becomes a complete band in 2001 with the arrivals of Alban (bass, ex-When Heaven) and Xavier (vocals, Third Revelation). With this very complementary and united line-up,The band can start to work on it"s first personnal compositions, and so writes six songs :

Shores of sanity, This was my life, Endless devotion, When the living feed the dead,

Rules overload, and The glitter in the eye.

These songs propose what is often qualified as melodic death metal, crossed with black and old-school thrash metal influences, and a touch of clear guitars and heavy riffs and solos. Parallels can be seen with dark tranquillity, Opeth, or Children Of Bodom but the combo has its own personnal vision of what its music shall be and does not intend to be a pale copy of anyone.With these songs the band begins to play on the road with bands such as DESTINITY , BENIGHTED, or ANKSUNAMON.
