The band was founded by Julian Trujilo (vocals), Alejandro Betancur (guitar) and Julian Rodrigez (drums) in El Carmen de Viboral in March 2002.

In February 2007, the band released their first full-length-album called Life in Death under Cannibal Natives Records which have a huge influence on the American, Mexican, Spanish and Swedish death metal scene. Some Colombian Metal magazines like Darkness Magazine, Metal Harmony Magazine, Extreme, Ritual Zine, Cathedral Magazine and Metal 100% Colombiano gave the album a successful review.

In October 2007, the band played a gig with Brazilian thrash/death metal band Sepultura in Medellín.

The band gives concerts through the whole country and because of the raising fans, American band Obituary invited the band to play with them on 27 April 2008 in Bogota. Later that year the band released their second album Commanding The Obscure Imperius at Extreme Cult Music. After that the band went on their first international concert tour through South America. The tour was called Comandando la muerte a sudamerica.

MUSIC STYLE

The band plays death metal of the 1990s with black- and folk metal-influences. The band's music is influenced by bands like Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Dark Funeral, Vital Remains, Morbid Angel and Behemoth. On their official Myspace site, the band described their music as Brutal Death Metal with Black Metal influences, but the band says that they not are another NSBM band.

The lyrics are usually written in Spanish and sometimes in English too. The lyrics deal with blasphemy, Christianation and killing of nature people and the conquerors Hernán Cortés and Francisco Pizarro also. In the song "Satan My Force" on their second album, the band uses satanic themes. In the inlay of their first album were many pentagrams where the listener could see that the band uses satanic themes.

Melodically the band uses heavy guitar riffs and doublebass sounds. The vocals changes between growls and clear vocals. On their debut album the band uses folkloristic South American instruments like pan pipes, for example in the songs "Fire in My Soul" and "Dentro de la Magia de las Sombras".

Vitam et Mortem is Latin and means life and death.

OTHER PROJECTS

Julian Trujillo founded a death metal solo project called Flagalation in 2006. That project signed at Extreme Cult Music and released the debut album Prostitution of Darkness in 2007.

Ex-member David Arana plays in The Mirror, Blasting Hatred and Sargatana which all produced one Demo-CD where Arana played drums.
