TOXEMIA BAND BIOGRAPHY

TOXEMIA is an Old School, Dirty, and Rotten Death Metal band from the Philippines.

Founded in 2003 by Evil drunkard Corix Baluca on guitars, Patrick Verano on bass, Ron Liad on vocals, and Teody Ongue on drums, these young fuckers in their teens and early 20s initially wanted to play Death Metal, but due to their limited skills with a two-chord pattern, they instead played noise with crust/grind influences. They recorded their first demo, 'Sealed With Blood,' in a DIY manner and released it under Jobless Production on CDr in the same year.

In 2004, Teody Ongue left the band after becoming a most-wanted drug dealer in their place Naic, Cavite. Ian Arquiza from the band Insanity filled in on drums for a few live performances and rehearsals but left for personal reasons.

As years passed, they met numerous bands on their journey through gigs, demo/zine trading, alcohol, and hitchhiking. Eventually, in 2005, Vic Jarlego (drums) and Erwin Javier (guitars) from the renowned band Pathogen joined their ranks, and the band made significant progress. They then recorded the demo 'Death To Us All and Let This Rotting World Empty,’ which showcased their Death Metal and Grindcore influences. A year later, they released a 4-way split CDr with local Death Metal/Grind acts Anus De Satanus, Vomitarium, and Decrusted under 4 Discunt Records. In 2006, they participated in a compilation album called “Underworld Art, Philippine Death Metal Compilation” and followed by Kalawang Records compilation called “Shattered Silence”. In 2008, they released a 3-way split tape with Ego Death from Greece and Cripple Slaughter from the US under Undergrind Production (US).

In 2008, due to the distance between Vic and Erwin's respective locations, they were unable to continue playing in the band. Ken Sanglay from the band Barricade of Corpse was invited to play drums for them, and together they performed at Cavite/Metal Hardcore Fest, one of the prominent underground music festivals in Cavite.

In 2010, Ken Sanglay officially joined the band on drums, and Peto Talicol joined on guitar. Drawing influence from Old School Death Metal, they went on to record the "Cavite's Beast EP" in 2011-2012. The EP was released on cassette tape under Mandarangan Records (US) and on CDr under Morthumain Production.

In 2013, they released a split CD with Pathogen under Human Discount Records and No Tomorrow Records from Italy called “Welcome To The Alcoholocaustic South, The Unholy Alliance”, followed by their first album called "Planetary Devastation," released under Metal Porn Production (Malaysia) on cassette tape and The 3rd Inferno (US) on CD. The demo 2013 was released as a promotional copy and this year was also marked by the departure of Ron Liad and Patrick Verano, who pursued their careers abroad. Instead of finding replacements, the band remained three-piece, with Corix Baluca filling in the vocal duty while still playing guitar. Peto Talicol while also playing the guitar took bass duties during recording and Kenneth Sanglay did drums.

To celebrate their 10 fucking years of existence, a discography CD was released in 2014, chronicling the band's journey over the past decade. Following this, the band released another demo that same year. Enmachined, a thrash metal band from Bangladesh, collaborated with the band for a split release, but unfortunately, the project was mishandled by the label, Hell House Production from Thailand. However, the project was eventually re-issued by Anugal Records and Palakol Records.

In 2015, their sophomore album “Ancient Demon” was released under The 3rd Inferno (US) on CD, and later on cassette tape under Anugal Records. The band enlisted a bassist, MG Diestro, from the bands Ataul and Rabies, and played at the underrated Metal event in Cebu City's underground scene called Hell Fest. They also released "Holocaustic Ritual IV" as a hate single under Threshold Records, and followed it up with the release of a live album titled “Underground Aeons” under Mort Humain Production.

In 2016, they released a 4-way split CD with Not 4 Sale, Sikmura, Cannabi Crust, and 5th of November.
In 2017, "Invocation of Misanthropy" EP limited cassette tape was released under Mort Humain Production and Palakol Records. The band continued composing, rehearsing, and performing live until they went on hiatus in 2020 due to the pandemic.

In 2021, MG Diestro left the band due to his increasing commitments to his primary bands Ataul and Rabies, and Abdeen Acraman from the hardcore punk band Congregation and Stable took over the bass duties. In 2022, the band continued to write music and perform live.

In 2023, the "Invocation of Misanthropy" EP was re-issued by Thanatology Production from China on a pro cassette tape, limited to 66 copies. This year also marked the band's 20 fucking years of existence, a testament to their long-standing commitment to their craft. With new releases on the horizon, the band is poised to continue delivering powerful, uncompromising music to the die hard underground metal bastards and maniacs.
