Biografia : Thorns

Thorns is controlled by main man Snorre W. Ruch and is not a new band, as many may think. Snorre started this band in 1989 after departing from the band Stigma Diabolicum, and released within two years the two now legendary demo tapes called Grymyrk and Trøndertun. In these years Thorns also included bandmembers Bård G. Eithun aka Faust (Stigma Diabolicum, Emperor, Dissection) on drums and Marius Vold (Stigma Diabolicum, Arcturus) who probably played some bass and also contributed with some singing. Harald Eilertsen, now in Frost, played bass and Snorre played guitars on the bass & guitar only instrumental 1991 Grymyrk demo. Snorre sings, plays guitar and plays synth, Ronny Prize plays bass and Terje Kråbøl plays drums on the 1992 Trøndertun demo, which was actually already recorded on a rehearsal tape in 1989. So as it seems, we cannot really see how involved Bård and Marius was in Thorns, as it appears, they have not contributed to any of the recordings, as far as we know. Snorre has been away from the scene for a long time, since rumours have, that Snorre helped Varg Vikernes drive the car to Oslo, where Varg brutally slaughtered MayheM guitarist Euronymous. Snorre was supposedly sentenced to go to jail for an unknown period of time. This is pretty weird, 'cause Snorre was actually involved in MayheM after Dead killed himself, and engineered some riffs on De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.
These days, Snorre is in the cradle of Moonfog. He came back to the scene in 1999, where he appeared on a Thorns Vs Emperor split CD, has been on numerous compilation albums. One of these albums was the - Tribute To Euronymous, where Thorns is represented with the splendid Ærie Descent from the Trøndertun demo. This is weird, 'cause how the hell can Snorre contribute to this album, if he actually was involved in the killing of Euronymous ?.

Finally in 2001 he released his debut album just called Thorns. Musicians involved in the debut count the brilliance of Hellhammer from MayheM, Satyr from Satyricon and Aldrahn from DHG (Dødheimsgard) on the debut album. Snorre also had a big involvement in the Satyricon - Rebel Extravaganza album, where he engineered many of the guitarriffs.
