The Highlanders were a group of 7 friends who come from Wainui, Lower Hutt, Mana, Raumati and Paekakariki. They all share an interest in the Folk Metal genre. The Highlander's music is melodic, but heavy with plenty of catchy rifts and lead breaks. They have a unique blend of instruments which include, two lead guitars, bass, drums, , Violin and Ben Paulsen's vocals are powerful and Arcane and Awhi adds even more dark and diverse sounds to the already might Highlander sounds. "We are now a mix of more than just Folk Metal, we have also got Black, Death, Melodic, Celtic, Nordic and Progressive genres in our music."
we have lost Callum our old drummer to his other band Morta Vida and we wish him luck. also Joseph left us for his sailing and we all salute him and wish him luck in the future.
the Line up has changed a bit now Tj on drums but he does guitar in one or two songs
Irwin is our new lead guitarist and for all those that saw our last gig will know he is a great guitar player.
Awhi as lead vocals with Ben has added even more depth to the Highlanders sounds and the two men work well together. Sadly in 2007 the band called it quits and has broken up
