Biografia : Tanqeray

Tanqeray play a rough mix of metal and folk, and they will shurely make you dance. Take a never stopping drum groove, add low-frequency bass lines and a classical campfire rhythm guitar. This solid basis is then enforced with a heavily distorted electric guitar and folky vocals. The electriv violin, skillfully moving around the melodies, finishes the mix.

It all started in 1997 with a traditional folk project, formed by Lady Bordeaux (bass) and King Leo (vocals, accoustic guitar). Once the grave decision of making the sound somewhat harder and harsher was made, Magic Mike (e-guitar) and Mani (drums) joined up. By the end of the year they stormed a rehearsal room in the Rockhouse Salzburg. A few months later Sir Tobi joined the band, which made the line-up complete and open up new dimensions of sound. The band now focused on new interpretations of moslty Irish traditionals.

After many a sweat-dripping rehearsal session they successfully played their first gig in the Rockhouse Salzburg on the 21st May 1999. Now fully motivated they concentrated on writing their own songs. In autumn they recorded their demo and promo CD "T-2000". After that, Mani decided to kick it for another band which played his favourite sound and made place for Major Tom, who learned the set in almost no time at all, and played with the others as soon as early 2000 at the Austrian-Band-Contest (6th place from 150 bands!).

In the following year they wrote a lot of new material and got more live-expirience. In 2001 they decided to record their first LP. Several gigs and many recording sessions later their work was completed - on November 17th they presented their 10-track-CD "With A Smile" to the public.
