...It was not long ago that the seed was planted that was to become the band SUSPERIA
In late 1998 Tjodalv and Cyrus teamed up and started creating music together.

By 1999 Tjodalv had left Dimmu Borgir and met up with Athera at the Wacken Festival in August.

The pact was forged and Athera brought along Memnock and Elvorn, and so SUSPERIA was born.

The demo "Illusions Of Evil" of late 1999 offered SUSPERIA over 10 solid record deals and resulted in a 4 album deal with Nuclear Blast and a Publishing deal with Prophecies Publishing.


The debut album "Predominance" was recorded in Abyss Studios and supervised by Peter Tägtgren in October 2001. With release March 26. 2002, SUSPERIA was invited to support Dimmu Borgir on the entire European part of their world tour. SUSPERIA toured west Europe with Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, Nevermore and Lacuna Coil in April, and East and south Europe with Dimmu Borgir and Destruction in May. They were also flown down to headline the Extremo Open Air Festival in Portugal in June that same year.


SUSPERIA sold over 10.000 albums in the first 3 months after the release of their debut album and inked a deal with Ponycanyon Records for distribution in the country of Korea, which not often have Metal releases of their own.

Susperia got a 2 page article in Terrorizer which gave massive coverage in England and were also featured with articles and interviews in the majority of German music magazines, in addition to many other countries.

The reviews praised the coming of this group and the fresh breath of extreme metal they brought with them.

Media was astonished by the powerful debut album of this band and stated they await in excitement what will come next.

On May 6. 2002 SUSPERIA will release their second full length album entitled "Vindication"

Again recorded in Abyss Studios Sweden , as the last work Peter Tägtgren agreed to do before closing down his studio, maybe for good. Peter believed so strongly in the material for the new Susperia album that he decided to co-produce and assist totally free of producer-charge! So the music was recorded in Abyss in November and December 2001 whilst Athera hooked up with vocal producer Bjørn Boge (Da Vinci) and recorded all the vocals in BBM studio in Oslo, Norway at the same time. 10 new songs are ready for you in the true Susperia vein, with more groove, and more intense melodies than ever. This statement will have massive updates as the year progresses. Much will happen around this exciting band in the near future, you wait and see.
