Biografia : Saved By Insanity

Saved by insanity, or One step ahead as it was called in the early days, started out as a “one gig, just for fun thing” in the early spring of 2007. Emil was asked to bring his old band Gastroc Nemius to a small festival in a neighboring village to the bands home town. Since that band wasn’t active no more, he decided to put a new band together for this gig. Said and done, he asked former Gastroc Nemius drummer Emin Jasarevic to join. He also brought in Linus Helderud and Johan Lindh, the bass player and the lead guitarist from a local cover band.

With 2 old Gastroc Nemius songs and two newly written pieces they started rehearsing and the gig took place in April the same year. Gig done, all went well and that was that… They thought… A couple of weeks later Roger “Rogga” Johansson from underground death metal acts such as Paganizer and Ribspreader, called up the band. He had seen a video recording and saw potential in the band, so he asked if they wanted his help recording a demo. The band gladly accepted and everything was going up-hill.

As usual, this is the time for bad news to strike. Emin was accepted to college and Linus left the band to focus on his university studies. And so they where two…

Not being put down by these setbacks, Emil and Johan kept working on the songs for the demo and brought in local drummer Adrian Göthe to help out with the rhythm parts. During this period, the songs were getting heavier and the band name changed to Saved by insanity. The main parts of the demo was recorded at Emils apartment. Via Rogga the two-piece got in contact with Ronnie Björnström at Enhanced Audio Productions who agreed to mix and master the demo. He also recorded the drums for the demo, which were played by Morgan Lie (Naglfar).

Finally in 2010 the demo was done and was named “Stray dog society”. Still not having a complete band, heading out doing gigs wasn’t an option. So, while constantly looking for a new bass player and a new drummer, they immediately started working on new songs.

In the summer of 2010 Emil met up with high school friend and bass player, Samuel Smitz, who at the time was thinking about leaving his band The grand trick. Emil saw the opportunity and snatched him faster then fast. All of a sudden Samuel found himself with a bass guitar in his lap recording bass lines for the next Saved by insanity demo. He quickly took the opportunity to show off his abilities behind the mic-stand as well.

This time the drums were recorded by Brynjar Helgetun (Liklukt, Paganizer etc.), whom also mixed the demo. The mastering was taken care of by Patrick Bruss (Crypticus). The demo was named “Truth reborn”.

In the middle of the mixing process the three-piece got in contact with a drummer named Simon Holmberg. Simon was a former member of black metal outfit “Unlight order”. Now killing time in a local punk band he immediately identified the opportunity to go back to play metal again, and joined the band.

Today Saved by insanity is a complete four-piece band. With a lot going on the band is constantly looking for new exiting gigs and a good time!
