Pain Penitentiary formed in 2004 during the founding members’ teenage years. Taking influence from a variety of genres but keeping their fingers firmly pressed in a Death/Grind pie, the band aim to intelligently push forward with pure balls to the wall, pure brutality. The end result: Over the top appetite ending lyrics. No nonsense visceral riffs all underlined with primitive aggression of blast beats and bass rattles.

Striving to recreate raw extremity live, Pain Penitentiary relish in the opportunity to load up a van, travel and fill up a venue with audio obscenities. Live highlights include sharing the stage with: Cryptopsy, Voices, Abaddon Incarnate, Abysmal Torment, Sanatorium, Decapitated and many more.
In 2015 the band ventured in to Parlour Studios with producer Russ Russell for the most ambitious e.p they ever composed. The e.p summed up the band so well they simply dubbed it "Pain Penitentiary".

Held together strongly by founding members James Lovett (Guitar/Vocals), Sam Voisey-Tong (Bass) and Jimi Redshaw (Drums), Pain Penitentiary continue their extreme metal campaign to this day.

In 2017, Dexter Jarvis joined the group bringing his flare of guitar to the mix.
