Biografia : Obtuse

Obtuse hails from Groningen Holland and started in december 2001. This fourpiece stands for innovative extreme music by blending the best elements of grindcore, extreme metal and hardcore with a fuck you punk attitude into well-structured and listenable songs. The aggressive songs contain furious blastbeats, twisted riffs, heavy basses and intense vocals. But also stirring grooves and slower heavy parts to keep the songs dynamic and interesting. The lyrics deal with real life, personal interests, frustrations, anger and sarcastic humor as well. The main subject is (personal) freedom and to think for yourself. Obtuse does not fuck corpses or worship satan. Obtuse has no street credibility either...

In 2002 Obtuse released .Promo 2002. (out of print). This 5 track cd got received very well by magazines like Aardschok, Mindview and Fret as well as countless e-zines and fans of extreme music. This resulted into several shows throughout the country. Supporting bigger bands like God Dethroned and Entombed as well as many other underground bands. Obtuse also played on festivals in Holland and Belgium. In the beginning bass duties were done by Jens and Mats van der Valk (a.o. Cantara, God Dethroned, Salacious Gods, Autumn, Seizure). After a while Obtuse found a permanent bassplayer when Michel joined the band.

In 2003 Obtuse recorded their first full length album: .Silent Heritage.. The album contains 13 intense, raw and furious tracks. Silent Heritage was supposed to be released by Eclipse Records from Japan. Due to a lack of clarity from the label and a slow communication, Obtuse decided to release the album by themself on Boar.s Nest Entertainment. Meanwhile Obtuse is busy writing new songs and tries to play as much as possible. Lets rock! For more info and the latest news check their website
