Biografia : Nickelback

Nickelback is an Alternative Rock band formed in Hanna, Alberta by Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake and then drummer Brandon Kroeger (Brandon was later replaced by Mitch Guindon, who was replaced by Ryan Vikedal, who was then replaced by Daniel Adair, the current drummer of Nickelback). The band is one of the most popular of the modern post-grunge genre, along with groups such as 3 Doors Down and Daughtry, performing in a slightly more radio-friendly manner of audio apart from the traditional 1990's grunge music era. Although the founders of the band hail from Hanna, Alberta, a small town east of Calgary, they are now based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The band's name originates from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger often had to give customers in his previous job at Starbucks, and would frequently say "Here's your nickel back".[1]

The band is signed to EMI at home and Roadrunner Records for the rest of the world.

Since the release of their single "How You Remind Me" in 2001, the band has sold almost 15 million albums in the United States and nearly 2 million albums in Canada[citation needed]. The band has sold almost 25 million records worldwide.[2]

Nickelback's fifth studio album All The Right Reasons has sold over 6.5 million albums in the United States and over 9.5 million albums worldwide.[citation needed] It is the 16th album so far in the 21st century that has reach that level. [3] The album produced five U.S. Hot 100 top 30 singles,[citation needed] "Photograph", "Savin' Me", "Far Away", "If Everyone Cared", and "Rockstar".

Their second full-length album, The State featured two Top 10 hits (one being "Leader of Men"),[citation needed] and the follow-up Silver Side Up included 2002's most-played single: "How You Remind Me".[4]

"Someday" appeared in the Cold Case episode "Saving Sammy".

The band has won nine Juno Awards[5], two American Music Awards[6], an MTV Video Music Award for Best Video from a Film (Hero),[7] and a World Music Award for World's Best-Selling Rock Artist.[8] The band was also nominated for seven Grammy Awards.[9] In 2006, Nickelback were nominated for American Music Awards in three categories: Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group, Favourite Pop/Rock Album (All The Right Reasons), and Favorite Alternative Artist; they won for Favourite Pop/Rock Album.[citation needed] On December 4, 2006, Nickelback won three Billboard Music Awards out of five nominations.[citation needed]

Despite earlier reports that the band would begin recording their next studio album by the end of 2007, Nickelback has taken a break before going back to the recording studio.
