Hatred. Terror. Blasphemy. Disgust towards icons of a hollow dogma and the sheep that choose to swallow the lies. The time has come for the superior legions to wreak havoc upon the ruins of a corrupt, disintegrating society.
Inspired by blasphemous and blackened metal, Kult ov Azazel spit forth their own version of hate towards humanity with relentless speed and ferocity. At the closing of an old era, Kult ov Azazel rises from the ashes of the weak to unleash a deadly plague of black metal upon the four corners of the earth...the time has come to embrace the shadows of a new Satanic aeon, and Kult ov Azazel lead the way, torches in hand, prepared for the burning.

The unholy birth cries of Kult ov Azazel were first heard in April of 1999, under the infernal name of Azazel. Hailing from South Florida, masterminds Xul (vocals/bass) and Xaphan (guitar/additional vocals) decided to join forces, marching relentlessly towards a shared destiny, with a grim vision. Making use of numerous session drummers, the two driving forces behind this horde have managed to vomit forth three recordings upon an unsuspecting public.

Summoning the talents of Von on drums, the band commenced the process of writing their monumental self-released debut, "Order of the Fly". Azazel soon embarked on the task of manifesting their hateful vision in a live setting, shocking audiences with their intense and almost ritualistic performances. After playing a few shows, in July of 1999 the three-piece went into the studio to record "Order of the Fly," which would consist of 6 songs of utterly raw and uncompromising black metal. Shortly after the recording was done the band released a 2 song promotional tape entitled "Forever Heaven Gone" to promote their forthcoming debut. In August, "Order of the Fly" was finally unleashed.

Intent on following the path of the elders, Azazel furiously promoted their new release. The almost immediate response of the black metal underground, as well as a slew of praise-filled reviews, proved to the world beyond a shadow of a doubt that this was certainly not just one of a myriad of sound-alike, uninspired black metal bands. "Order of the Fly" took people by surprise and beat them mercilessly into submission, but the worst was yet to come.

Not long after the release of the "Order of the Fly" mCD, Von left the band, and a new drummer was conjured...the new recruit went by the name of Hellspawn. This new lineup continued to abuse audiences at various venues in South Florida, and eventually the time came to record more songs. Three new tracks, and a re-working of the classic "Forever Heaven Gone" were recorded for a split CD with fellow US black metal band Krieg (this release would not reach the public for some time). At around the same time, the "Order of the Fly" mCD went out of print, much faster than anyone would have expected. The band concentrated on promoting their forthcoming split CD by releasing another two song promo tape, "Of evil and hatred," which consisted of "Destruction to the Throne of God" (a demo track, now a KoA classic, from the split) and a cover of the classic Mayhem song "Chainsaw Gutsfuck" (recorded in October in '99 with Vetis on drums).

June of 2000 marked a turning point for the entity formerly known simply as Azazel. The horde decided to distance themselves from other bands using the same name, and re-anointed themselves as Kult ov Azazel. At around the same time, Hellspawn left the fold, and the Kult took their next step into the black metal elite: they signed a contract with Arctic Music Group, ensuring them proper distribution and a good budget with which to create their debut full length. This was most definitely a productive time for the band: Xaphan and Xul took time over those months to focus on creating new material to unleash upon mankind. Never ones to sit back and relax while there are christians left to burn and spite, they continued playing shows with session drummer Vetis. In addition, Blood Fire Death Records reissued the "Order of the Fly" mCD that August. The reissue was limited to 50 copies with an added bonus live track, and was released under the band's current name, Kult ov Azazel.

Kult ov Azazel have demonstrated that nothing can stand in the way of 100% dedication, ambition, drive, and hard work. A mere year and a half after their inception, the Kult had given the public several releases, and established themselves in their local scene, in addition to sharing the stage with many other extreme metal acts.

The time was obviously right for Kult ov Azazel to release a full length, and in November of 2000 they entered the studio to exorcise their newest release, which would prove to be true to its name...during the time between the ending of the studio ritual and the release of the album, the split with Krieg was finally released on Genocide Records. In April, the much anticipated full length was released. "Triumph Of Fire" consists of 11 hymns to the forces of hatred, and lives up to their motto of "No Beauty, No Atmosphere, No Tranquillity." It proves that true black metal does still exist, in its pure, ugly, raw form. Some of the songs are older ones, re-ignited by Xaphan's newfound affinity for sick sounding harmonies and twin guitar parts. Some are brand new, and all are devastating. It is a manifesto of blasphemy and misanthropy, and embodies everything Kult ov Azazel strives to be.

In an astoundingly short time, Kult ov Azazel has evolved from a vision, to a band, to an unstoppable force. They have come to burn the old world and conquer the new; they are the musical embodiment of the hatred and blasphemy that resides within their hearts.

Welcome to the Triumph Of Fire. Prepare for the christian holocaust!
