Iris is the most longliving (practically) and popular rock band in Romanian music. The band was formed in 1975 , but officialy in 1977, evolving as a trio in the form of Nelu Dumitrescu - the former of the group, Ion Olteanu, Emil Lechinteanu. Throughout time, the band was permanently chased by a ``changing wave`` of members. In almost 3 decades of activity the band has recorded over 12 albums, 3 maxi-singles, a quadruple album (4 in 1),a best of and one DVD - Digital Athenaevm. Iris is the Romanian band who had the most numerous abroad concerts.Besides that, it was the first Romanian rock band to appear on MTV. At first, their music genre was hard rock/progressive rock , but later on they had influences from AC/DC, Judas Priest, Van Halen, Deep Purple ,and then ended up playing heavy/melodic hard rock. Iris has evolved until now in front of over 8 millions fans in 7500 concerts. Cristian Minculescu is the greatest singer in the history of Romanian rock music , influenced by Robert Plant, Ian Gillan and of course Rob Halford. In 2007 Iris is celebrating the 30th anniversary, and this event will be organized as an national tour.
