Biografia : Hatchet (USA-2)

Hatchet is an onslaught of 5 thrash metal fanatics from the San Francisco Bay Area; a starting point for infamous thrash bands like METALLICA, EXODUS, TESTAMENT, and VIO-LENCE, just to name a few. Formed by Julz on guitar and Slave behind the drum kit in January 2005, Hatchet started because they were fed up with the stale metal scene in their home town. Their desire to create music filled with substance and driving aggression would help to revive a genre that had slowly begun to fade away.

In the beginning stages of Hatchet's existence, Slave and Julz would hold jam sessions every week to lay down the tracks that would become the foundation of the band. The duo began their search for other metal musicians, auditioning various rhythm guitarists. They would soon meet fellow thrash enthusiast Sterling (McFly). Sterling's focus and skilled riffing created a distinctive sound that gave them an edge and further improved on Hatchet's raw, unique blend of aggressive thrash metal.

After taking numerous auditions, the prospect of finding a voice for Hatchet had seemed hopeless. The band had almost given up on the search for a vocalist until they had received a call from a unique character, Marcus (Tormentor). He came in and belted out classic metal anthems that the band had used to test his vocal abilities. Marcus' distinct sound would soon become the voice of Hatchet.

Even though they were still looking for a bass player, Hatchet quickly started gigging and traveled the lengths of California to show everyone that thrash metal was still alive and kicking ass! The band's drive to surpass the mediocrity that surrounded them would soon put Hatchet on the forefront of the Bay Area's underground metal scene.

Knowing they could only make little progress playing as an incomplete band, the bass position had to be filled. Hatchet decided to ask a long time friend of Marcus', Lou "Sheepdog" Bianco to join. This would go on to be the 1st complete original line-up for the band.

With the addition of the new bassist, Hatchet began a relentless run of intense gigs and put themselves in front of a growing audience of thrashers that were beginning to reappear all over the Bay Area. However, difficulties would soon arise between the rest of the band and the new bassist. After only 2 months the band would mutually decide to part ways with the Sheep Dog.

Finally, in the spring of 2007 Hatchet was able to complete their line-up. Bringing in a very skilled young bassist; 17-year-old Dan (Destroyer) answered their call and came in to rip through the 3 songs featured on their "Frailty Of The Flesh" demo. Dan's precise bass lines complimented the Hatchet sound better than any previous bassist so he was asked to join, rounding out the current lineup.

Shortly after the recruitment of Dan on bass, Hatchet entered the studio to record a new song entitled "Storm the Gates", that would be featured on Katon W. Depena's Thrash Metal Warriors compilation. Thrash Metal Warriors featured some of the most talented metal acts from all corners of the world, which included metal veterans Hirax, Sabbat, and Toxic Holocaust.

In September of 2007 Hatchet signed with Metal Blade Records; a label known for producing some of the most influential bands in Heavy Metal! Together they will be working to bring thrash to an aggressive new level starting with the bands debut full length release Awaiting Evil, in stores and online everywhere April 15th, 2008! Hatchet vows to bring their thrashing assault to crowds of raging headbangers everywhere! No fool will be spared! Its time to face the Hatchet!!!
