Dunkelheit was formed by Nebel back in Autumn 2005. Before that Nebel and Damned were playing in a band with another member who was the guitarist but the band ceased to exist due to lack of rehearsal place and problems with the police.

In 2005 Nebel decided to make a band alone in order to express personal feelings, thoughts and visions without other members. Damned joined the band on drums and the line-up has not changed since then. The line up actually is:

Nebel - Guitars / Bass / Screams
Damned - Drums

In Autumn 2006 the first Dunkelheit demo named 'Spell Of The Dark Woods' was recorded and released by the dedicated HungAryan True Black Metal label KÁRPÁTIA Productions in a very strict limitation. Only 50 copies were made. A song for a planned compilation was also recorded but it was deleted and therefore never released.

In February 2007 the writing-process of the first Dunkelheit album was finished and it was recorded in the same month in very bad quality. The reason for it was that Nebel and Damned did not have an appropriate studio equipment and they did not want to go to professional studio. This record was only given to some closer contacts.

In March 2007 the second demo 'Eternal Curse Upon Life' was recorded and it was released by another Hungarian Black Metal label, namely FOLTERKAMMER Records. It was limited to 100 copies. In the same year AMF Records contacted the band and agreed on the release of a compilation tape containing the first two demos.

In Summer 2008 the compilation tape was released under the title 'Eternal Curse Of The Carpathians'. Dunkelheit was never a band with many rehearsals but in that year there were some occassions. In Autumn Nebel started to work on the second album.

In August 2009 the first Dunkelheit gig was held in a small pub in Szeged. It was closed to the public and only a small circle could come to visit this event of darkness and death. This was at the first Inner Awakening Fest. All bands from Inner Awakening Circle made a gig with three other bands outer the circle. Dunkelheit does not plan to make gigs only really rarely.

In Autumn 2009 Nebel added vocals to an older rehearsal record which contained two tracks never released before. It was released on tape through WEREWOLF Promotion under the title 'Endless Dream About The Final Deliverance'.

In January 2010 Nebel and Damned started to record the album finally. It was finished in April and the title of it is 'Frozen In Eternity'. The mixing and the mastering was done by Shadow from DUSK. The band reached the sound which perfectly fits to the music. It should be added, that everybody can forget about the shitty and fashionable, clean, polished and trendy sound. The album was released in August 2010 under the banner of WEREWOLF Promotion.
