Biografia : Dimitri

Dimitri (full name Dimitri Bonani) was born in Parma, Italy, on 11th December 1972.
He discovered classical music at the age of 11, studying organ at the private school LIRA under the guidance of his teacher Reiko Nakaja, but the real shock for rock music was at age of 15, when he first listened to the album "The Final Countdown" by the Swedish rock band Europe: he was literally stunned by that perfect voice and that wonderful style which magnificently combined "hardness" and "melody".
He immediately began writing songs like "Shadow In The Night" and "The Long War", both present in his solo album, the latter being inspired by the Europe’s hit.
Then he began to study singing, trying to learn the methods of the great pop-rock vocalists in vogue in the 1980s.
When he was 17 he formed his first real band: the Warriors, in which he was lead singer.
This band was founded with his childhood friend Gabriele Volta, a very talented guitarist with whom he co-wrote several songs that he still performs.
There was a great harmony in the band, and in addition to songs written by them, they also played cover versions of Kiss and Helloween; Dimitri also had to play the bass guitar until they found a bass guitarist.
After some not very exciting experiences with various bands, he formed a band called Powerwings with his friend Khaled Abbas (guitar teacher and now director of the Modem Music Institute in Parma) in 2002.
The band mainly played cover versions of Yngwie Malmsteen’s songs and Dimitri was the keyboards player and lead singer.
After a few years the band split up and Dimitri re-formed the Powerwings with the drummer Alberto Clerici, the bassist Christian Bolzoni and the guitarist Alessandro Bernazzoli, the latter endowed with incredible technique and talent, and already well-known in Italy in the 1980s as the guitarist of the band Undercut.
This was Dimitri’s last real band and when they split up he started working hard on his solo project; the result is the fruit of a hard production work which lasted 2 years.
This work has been inspired by the various bands that have influenced him over the years, such as: Europe, Yngwie Malmsteen, Scorpions, Whitesnake, and many others…
Now that this hard work has finally come to an end, it's time to put together the result fruit of 22 years of music, and Dimitri proposes to the world with his album:
THE LONG WAR
