Biografia : Colour Trip

Taking urban metal to a new level best describes the sound of COLOUR TRIP. Straight in-your-face riffs, intense and fearsome vocals paired with powerful, rhythmic drums create an aggressive intensity that doesn't need to follow trends.

The band started out under the name Accessory in early 1991. Soon after, they released their debut CD "Within Your Mind", which was re-released with new artwork by West Virginia Records/SPV in 1992. Through extensive touring, the band established a well-known underground status throughout Europe and signed with Massacre Records/IRS in 1993. Along with a new label came a shift in musical style, and the band decided the change the name to COLOUR TRIP. COLOUR TRIP's self-titled debut album was released in 1994, followed by a European tour with Nuclear Assault.

In 1995, COLOUR TRIP signed with Armagedddon/SPV. The second album "GroundLevelSexType" introduced heavier song structures and laid the foundation for the current sound. Released in 1996, "GroundLevelSexType" received excellent reviews in Europe and overseas. Two European tours with Pro-Pain followed.

The third album, "Full-Time Function", which was released by Armageddon/SPV in 1997, introduced more modern edges. The record was recorded, mixed, and mastered by top metal producer Siggi Bemm at Woodhouse Studios, Hagen, Germany. Siggi Bemm is known for his excellent work with Grip, Inc., Tiamat, Moonspell, Dimmu Borgir, and The Gathering. "Full-Time Function" pushed the limits even further and established COLOUR TRIP as one of the leading Metalcore bands. For their 4th album, the band entered the Woodhouse Studios again, and again decided to work with Siggi Bemm.

Colour Trip relocated to the US. The band signed with Arctic Music Group from Fort Lauderdale/FL, which will release the new album in March '02 for Europe, May '02 for North America. COLOUR TRIP's 4th album is guaranteed to please both headbangers and hardcore pit fiends. "Kill My Super Ego" delivers tight new school dynamics and necessary crunchiness, creating a ferocious and intense blend of modern hardcore and new school metal. The band also made its first video for the track "Cut-Up/Fold-In". Until recently, the band had a steady line-up since 1995, with Elmar Keineke on vocals, Mark Wolzenburg on guitar, and Matt Luaders on drums.

COLOUR TRIP's live performance is best described as raw, untamed outbursts of energy. Having toured and played with the likes of Pro-Pain, Testament, M.O.D., Nuclear Assault, Kreator, The Spudmonsters, NO FX, and Strung Out, as well as several headlining tours in Europe established COLOUR TRIP as one of Germany's finest live bands. COLOUR TRIP are currently writing material for the next record, working title "Penetration", and are expected to begin demo-recording sessions later this year.
