Collapse was formed in 2001 by guitarist/vocalist/producer Jason MacKenzie whose goal was to combine the Brutal Death Metal sound with the Extreme Hardcore elements of early 1990's Grindcore.

In the early days of the band from 2001 until 2008 Collapse had several lineup changes with Jason MacKenzie maintaining all songwriting. After signing with Forward Regression Records the band established a solid lineup by hiring a session rhythm section for studio recording with Riley Davis on Bass and Anderson Richards on Drums from from the California USA Death Metal band Infinitency, who has also signed to Forward Regression Records.

Collapse has released a MCD entitled "Destroying By Design" Released Janurary 2006 [500 official copies] and an Demo EP "Mechanisms Of Oppression" [100 official copies, while Bootlegs/Unofficial Pressings of both are still in circulation] released June 2008 which led to Collapse signing with Forward Regression Records in October 2008.

After signing with Forward Regression Records Collapse recorded two full length albums "Collapse", the first self tilted full length Collapse album and "Sustainability", a double second full length album of all new material.
The band also re-recorded their earlier "Mechanisms Of Oppression" EP and Re-issued "Destroying By Design" with Bonus Tracks on Forward Regression Records in 2011.
