The Band was founded in November 1996. On the search of our own sound and because of the different characters of the band members, we developed a misical style, witch can´t be put in a certain direction. We just called it MELODIC - GOTHIC - POWER - METAL because of the different musical elements. At the end of 1997 we recorded the first Introduction - CD. It was called "In The Room of Lights".
The following years we played a lot of times in clubs and pubs. Of course we played also at Open - Airs and Newcomer - Contests, witch we won twice. Basilisk played as supporter of following Bands : Crematory, Farmer Boys, Ever Eve, The Gathering, My Dying Bride, Phantoms of Future and many more.

With new song material and new band members (bass and keyboards) we recorded the second CD "....Between Light and Shadow" in spring 2001.
