ASES is born through the ashes of some splited bands, the most importants of them were : "Sang Sur" (created by Necros during year 1989- a demo-tape "Octobre17" ...) as fundamental root, and "Necrophage" (1993-1998, another band of Necros where Donn and Nergal were members too) as essential evolutive step (during 1996, sometime after the arrival of Donn, Necros and Donn decide to let Necrophage dying and set up serious bases for their new band: ASES).

During the month of June, year 2000, Necros (guitar & vocals), his brother Donn (guitar) and Nergal (bass, ex-necrophage & also member of Beauty Of Desolation with Necros...) recruit Lord.S.(guitar) and Vilheim (drum), so, Necros stop playing guitar to consecrate himself exclusively to vocals.

The will of the band were to create and play pagan black metal treating of Indo-european Pagan mythologies as Scandinavian, Germanic and especialy Celtic mythology. Their thought is principaly that the modern society submited to monotheïst religions is stirring the annihilation of our ancestral Scandinavian, German, Celtic… Pagan roots and traditions as identity, way of life, culture, historical reality…
The name of the band is exctracted from the Scandinavian mythology (the Ases are sovereign and warrior pagan gods…). All the members of the band are, before all, realy passionate by Metal & extreme music!

The 3 tracks the band first select and start working on are in fact some old tracks of the bands which Ases is born from (one of them, called "The cold death" is featuring on their cdr demo-compilation "Relics Of The Past").
Nergal (bass) left Ases for consecrate himself to brutal death metal, so, he is replaced by a new member called Infest introduced to the band by Lord.S.
The band keep on working and compose the title "Orgasm in holocaust" (the original lyrics , writen some years before , were inspired by the rape scene from the movie "cannibal holocaust" but were changed to become "Totem phase by carnage" for the "Neverending Warlust" album …), then Vilheim (drum), desinterested in black metal, is fired because of a less of motivation... and replaced by a programmed drum on computer!

December 2000 the 3rd (metal festival, Limoges, France) the band is on stage:
Napalm Death, Nostromo, No Return, Nomed, Nasum, Depraved, Execution, Unsafe, Beauty Of Desolation & Ases .

Finaly, because of a strong request of the bands' environement, Ases decide to record his CDR demo-compilation: "Relics Of The Past" (1993 to 2000, 5 tracks) during the month of January 2001. Out on the label Taran production. 400 copies of this release have been sent worldwide.
This demo has been recorded "live" in rehearsal room and has never been mixed, so: "Raw sound for raw music"!
Through the lyrics (using English, French and "Occitan" languages) Necros expose us his negativism and anti-modernity through the contemplation of a futur becoming darker day after days...The vision of a pagan who want a return to the nature and his savagery: "The strong man able to survive alone and face the elements with only his physical force, spirit and knowledge!".

Autumn 2001, after more than a year of work, Ases decide to record his first CD
album: "Neverending Warlust" containing 7 tracks .
After many problems, the album is finaly out on "Taran Production" on May 2002 the 17th and is limited to 500 copies.
The band is musicaly satisfied of this album but they realy dislike its sound quality.
However that may be and in spite of this ugly sound, this album is well received and rapidly sold-out, however, the band have decided to definitively refuse the propositions of ré-éditions of this album because of its deplorable sound.

Ases is back on stage :

November 2002 the 7th, C.C.J.Lennon - Limoges (France):Your shapeless beauty, Furia, Apostasia & Ases
November 2002 the 22nd, Aixe sur vienne (France): Ases, Beauty of desolation & Cipher
February 2003 the 15th, Rennes (France) : Latrodectus (replacing Fornication...), Nuit noire & Ases

During 2003 the band stop using virtual drum and decide to refuse to play live on stage without a real drummer, so the line-up is recomposed: Infest become guitarist, Necros stay vocalist but also play bass and Donn become the drummer!
Then , the band compose a new song "Combat païen", an exclusive track in French only featuring on a french-speaking tape compilation.

Ases continue to work and almost one year later they start the recording of their new CD album "Of Moonlords & Sunwheelwarriors" at their own studio (Wolfdirge studio).The album is finaly out during september 2004 on the label "Taran production"(R.I.P)
December 2004, a new member called Neimheidh (bass) join the band and start working with them!



The band start to rehearsal, working on their project to release a video-clip and also start composing to prepare their new release.
