Biografia : Act Of Fate

Act of Fate was formed in autumn 1997 by Benjamin Hakbilir (lead guitar), Torsten Nieland (vocals/bass), Alexander Oberdick (drums) & Stefan Pupkes (rhythm guitar). After some differences about the musical style, the band broke-up in early 1998.

Benjamin and Torsten decided to continue and joined the guys from Damnation in March 1998. Together with Michael Meyer (vocals/rhythm guitar) & Swen Ludwigs (drums), Act of Fate was born again and bigger than ever.
After a lot of intensive trial we decided to join a studio the first time. In August, 1998, we had a date with the "Friesensound - Studio" near our hometownAct Of Fate, Aurich. There we recorded our first MCD called "Soul Puzzlement" on 16 tracks in only 3 days. The CD contains 5 songs of pure Death/Thrash-Metal with a big portion of melody and power. The production is really raw and filled with a lot of aggression. The responses in the European Metalzines like "Rock Hard, Ablaze, Eternity" and so onAct Of Fate, were great all the time. We had the possibility to put our track "Paingod" on a sampler together with the "Eternity Underground Fanzine." "Nighthunter" was released at the "Death`O´Phobia #6" compilation .

In 1999, we played several successful gigs in our region and sold more than 350 copies of "Soul Puzzlement". In the meantime, we worked hard at new songs so we decided to enter a studio again. The "Audio Check - Studio" in Emden was selected soon after. Our time there was a lot of fun. (Thank you F.O. Conrad). In May/June of 1999, it took us about 12 days to record our second CD, "Despise The Light". After hours of sweat and hard work, 10 brand-new aggressive songs were finished on 24 tracks. The entire release is very alternate this time : Mid - tempo - songs take turns with fast ones, combineed with brutal vocals and a lot of melodic leads. We were really satisfied with this powerful recording. Our style at that time of history is very difficult to explain, but it still ranged somewhere between Death/Thrash-Metal.

Swen - Michael - Benjamin - Torsten

The reactions this time were although great so we could place some songs on sampler again. Many gigs, interviews and mighty reviews followed until Michael & Swen decided to leave the band because of big musical differences in March 2000. At that time Benjamin became a member at our local friends Anasarca and Torsten although became a member at Gallery of Darkness . Only a few days after the split with Michael and Swen (good luck guys!), Christian Sap (vocals) and Gerd-Peter Mumme (drums) from the mighty King Carrion decided to enter the gate of Act of Fate. In September 2000 Carsten Schmidt from Wounded finally completed the line-up.

With this new line-up the future will be fast, aggressive and without any compromises to the mainstream in the scene. Some new tracks are already finished and are much more Death Metal than the older stuff.
Because of the whole circumstances with the split, we had to cancel some gigs – sorry! "Playing a gig" is still one of the biggest things in our life and our main reason of being musicians. So we are looking very forward to next ones.
So far....so good....
