Biografia : Abscess (USA)

The Abscess wound began to bloom as a result of the decomposition of the corpse of Autopsy, Hexx and Immortal Fate. With the band based in Oakland, California the initial line up consisted of the following bizarre creatures:

Chris Reifert: drums & vocals
Clint Bower: guitar & vocals
Danny Coralles: guitar
Freeway Migliore: bass

This was in June of 1994. Since this formation much has happened:

1994:
July: The "Abscess" demo is recorded containing 6 tracks.
August: Wasting no time, the "Raw Sick & brutal Noize!" 6-track demo is recorded.
October: Abscess plays live on the radio - "KZSU": on the "Pustulation of Embryonic Flesh" show, hosted by Organ Donor.

1995:
January: Back into the studio. The "Crawled Up From The Sewer" 7-song demo is recorded.
February: Abscess plays live on KZSU Radio again, resulting in the "Filthy Fucking Freaks" tape.
Later that year the 3 demo tapes are released as the "Urine Junkies" album on Relapse Records.

1996:
The "Seminal Vampires & Maggotmen" album is recorded and released, again on Relapse.

1997:
Freeway Migliore leaves the band.
June - The "Throbbing Black Werebeast" 7" EP is recorded for Relapse Records. It contains 7 songs. Chris fills in on bass duties.

1998:
Joe Allen (ex - Von) joins Abscess on bass.
August - The four track "Open Wound" demo is recorded.

1999:
Abscess sign to french label Listenable Records and begin recording the " Tormented" album at Sound Temple studios.

2000:
The owner of Sound Temple is evicted and ends up losing all the tapes from the "Tormented" session.
May - The band enters "Different Fur" studio in San Francisco to get the job done right. "Tormented" is recorded and shows the band at their tightest and most experimental while still staying focused on maximum brutality.
Also in May Joe Allen leaves the band. In the same month Abscess jump back into the studio to record a two-song demo, this time with Danny on bass.

2001:
A split 10" with Sweden"s "Deranged" is released on Listenable records. The release contains 3 tracks that were recorded during the Tormented sessions.
A split CD with Spanish band "Machetazo" is released on Ironia/Upground Records. The 2 tracks are taken from the Open Wound demo. Then the entire Open Wound demo is released as a 7" on From Beyond Records.

2002:
February - The "Through the Cracks of Death" album is recorded for Peaceville Records. At last the band finally feels at home on a record label. This record is clearly Abscess" tightest, heaviest, weirdest and most thought out effort to date. Danny, Chris & Clint share bass duties. Abscess has high expectations for the future.

May - Joe Allen rejoins the band, playing stronger than ever.
