At a time when the metal markets are flooded with new releases from big name bands, Mesetiah comes crashing into the scene with their killer debut album. They rose up from the Finnish metal underground, by winning a band competition in Kokkola. They were so impressive that they soon signed a record deal, without releasing a debut album. Their motto is "headbang till you bleed". They've got a large fan base in their area.

These Finns give the middle finger to Finnish folk metal and play a jaw ripping combination of death, thrash, and hardcore metal. The element of hardcore helps the band to achieve a certain level of catchiness. Lyrically, the emphasis is on violence, death, and the end of the world. Most of the songs are very heavy and thrash at a medium tempo.

Leading the charge is bassist Lassi Rintala, who is an excellent craftsman at forging thick bass riffs. This band features 2 guitarists; Toni Olkkola and Kim Rintala. The guitars seem to complement the bass, as the main focus is on a heavy sound. The vocals of Marko Rintalla sound very similar to the vocals of Marco Silvenoinen of Adramelech. Hell, even their first names sound alike. Juha Olkkola is very effective on the skins, with his shattering blast beats.

This album consists of 10 songs that rage with the vitriol of Adramelech, Terrorizer, and Panzerchrist. But I also hear other influences in there also. The Prophecy has some morbid guitar licks that remind me of Incantation. Life Means Nothing has some slower breakdowns with a structure like Pungent Stench. Whiskey For The Pain incorporates a southern fried sound similar to that of Corrosion Of Conformity, but they don't stray too far from their death metal sound on this track. Beyond The Gates Of Hell has a chunkier bass sound that sounds like the style of Jungle Rot. The album is interspersed with guitar riffs that sound like those of Kerry King of Slayer. I don't see a lot of room for improvement on this album. I think that they could upgrade their style, by adding technical guitar playing, the way that Decapitated does with their music.
