Aboriorth is a one man black metal band from Galicia, Spain. Galicia is located north of the Portuguese border, in the far northwestern corner of Spain. He goes by the name Lord Aboriorth. He released a full length album in 2007, so I don't know why he bothered to put out a 2 song EP. There are only about 10 minutes worth of music on this 7"(vinyl) LP. I'm having to replay this album every 10 minutes, that's an inconvenience. I had it loaded onto my I-Pod. Anyhow the first song is great and the second song is very good. It leaves me wanting more. I think that these 2 songs will be re-released on a longer CD sometime in the future.

The first song is called Chapter I: Creation, Cruelty, And Perversion. It has a very dark melody which alters between faster notes and slower notes, to give it a warped and twisted sound. Gehenna did something similar to this at the beginning of their song, Perfect Hate, on the Murder album. It sounds cool, but not as cool as this application of the technique done by Lord Aboriorth. The lyrics have a very misanthropic theme, involving death, self destruction, and the occult.

The second song is called Chapter II: Condemns Sin & Death. It rocks in a very grievous style of black metal. The lyrics are about the hatred of life from the perspective of the dead, I guess from the view point of ghosts. There is a lot of tremolo picking on this song, with agonic screaming. It has some majestic interludes, accentuated with crashing cymbals. There are also some very creepy guitar hooks in this song.

Lord Aboriorth handles all of the instruments very well. He is a very skilled song writer and knows how to express his ideas through his music. This music is not boring, though it is played at a slow tempo. He's got a very dark style. I tried to come up with a meaning for the name Aboriorth. I came up empty on line. So the closest word that I could find (in a Spanish dictionary) was the Spanish verb, aborrecer, which means to hate.

I couldn't find a video on line for Aboriorth, except for the static image MP3 submissions on You Tube. They were all from previous releases. So I listened to them and found that the 2 songs on this new release are superior to those earlier ones. These 2 songs were written better. I'm still wondering why the hell he went to so much trouble for only 2 songs. Maybe it was a financial concern, he split 2 cassette tape recordings with other artists, on a couple of his previous releases. I want them to market this music in the USA, to offer us black metal fans some fresh new stuff. Fans of Xasthur, Krohm, Necronoclast, and Aosoth will love this music.
