Being Neige Et Noirceur’s first release, Pour Te Dire la Fin wasn’t their best work, but being their first release, it is pretty good. I would have never expected as much musical talent as there was, and the fact that all of it was recorded entirely on a cassette recorder just totally blows my mind.

The album is kicked off with the instrumental track “Veneris Dies”, not having very good recording quality, but is melancholic and very ambient. It definitely acts as a good intro song.

Then it’s the song “Spica”. At first I cringed because I wasn’t expecting that level of recording quality. But then it all seemed to fit together, as do the guitars in a Paysage d’Hiver song. Naturally, I suspected that the guitar work wasn’t going to be that good in this album. But I was surprised. It was relatively complex work, and was very enjoyable to listen to. The vocals came in too overpowering, but they leveled themselves out. After listening to it one whole time, I was already in love with it.

The songs “Il Pendolo Di Foucault”, “Spectrum”, and “Novembrae” were the more black metal songs of this album, and the songs “Sambati Dies” and “Pour Te Dire la Fin” were the more ambient tracks (with Pour Te Dire la Fin being a mixture of both ambience and black metal).

This album was definitely a win in my books. Unfortunately, actual copies of this album are long gone, not being released anymore. However, you can buy other releases from Neige Et Noirceur through Dungeons Deep Records (www.dungeonsdeep.com)

For the fans of: Paysage d’Hiver, Nucleus Torn, Sun of the Sleepless, Burzum, Gris, Marblebog, Nefarious, and many more.
