Adrift and ever flowing,
Nothing mattered but us and our aimless journey
A gift of wanderings

Daylight echoed an amber river
As birds sang of the graceful dance of unity
An ode to the fire in our hearts burning over the horizon
Brave and wild, it was our bond
It was home

Your aura was tender and radiant
Ethereal, yet warm
It filled my lungs with solace and hope
A tranquil glimmer of faith in the eye of your storm
Gleaming through the fog like a lantern on the path to salvation

It was both dusk and dawn
When the traffic lights went out
When the walls collapsed
When ashes eclipsed the sun
And the only light came from the flickering destruction surrounding us

It wasn’t real
It was never real

But are you with me still?


2. REVERENCE OF BEING

None had escaped these oaken corridors
Their looming gaze a shroud to the bloodthirst within,
And the breathless sleep that followed

With warmth in your embrace,
Our only beacon was the courage
Binding our hearts to each other and to the earth.
It carried us through the darkness
Like ships in the receding tide
As we built our salvation

Every branch was laid with the tender care of love and serenity,
A womb to the reverence of being,
Repelling the frozen hell befalling us,
Nulling the piercing screams of death tracing our footsteps.
Their warmth a faint ray of hope
That light may shine once again.

And as they hatch from the nest within,
The ravens will guide me home
Where I will sleep once more


3. A REFUGE IMPASSABLE

Deafening silence like a noose around my neck
Frigid wind like daggers in my lungs
A face devoid of expression
Frozen and barren inside
Why am I alive?

This world has betrayed me
Cast me out, left me to wither
In this purgatory
Not much different from the life I led before
Where babes were culled for their defiance

Trudging towards guileless redemption
A luminous path as my guiding light
I can feel you now
An aura that feels like home
Appear before me so I can be free

Are you the one I have been looking for?
Hold me in your arms as we sway
Show me a love that is boundless
Show me a life worth living in
Please don’t leave me

Take my hand as we head toward our undoing
Hearts pounding before returning to stone
Suffocating in the chaos of memories
I wonder if you still admire tragedies

Bodies return to the earth
