2. THE LAST STAND

Out in the distance rumbling of hooves
Blowing up silence, shaking the roofs
Horses are dancing inhaling the heat
The ground is trembling under my feet
Out in the distance we're holding the line
No revelation for us at this time
Piercing the air with spears and pikes
Counting minutes as the enemy strikes

No expectations, no hope and no fear
Stuck in this castle for almost a year
Peasants have fled to the woods nearby
There's only us waiting to fight and to die
The trumpets have sung their hymns of demise
Sun's getting higher blinding our eyes
The bells on the towers silenced their call
This is our last stand, this is our fall

Howling of arrows piercing my shield
Blood fountains pouring across battlefield
One last dream of glory, one last final breath
Before and beyond the black gates of death
Cavalry charge, nowhere to run
Lances and armor blaze in the sun
Squeezing the helmets, crushing the skulls
Comrades are falling around one by one

Out in the distance the battle dies out
Where are you my brothers, so brave and so proud ?
Smoldering corpses, smell of decay
The ugly remains of those died today
