Primordial Serpent : Ancient Myths and Legends

Lyrics

1. ANCIENT MYTHS AND LEGENDS

(Instrumental)

2. THE COMING PROPHECY

Long lost stories
Forgotten to the world
Only to be remembered
By a certainfew
Tales of serpents
Tales of an empire
And the demise
Of the ancient lords

Rise of the serpents
The demise of gods
For the whole time they've ruled
With ultimate power
Thrown to the seas
Placed in chains
Banished to the roots
Only to be cursed

The prophecy reads
An ending will come
To the world once reigned
By the gods of above
Asgard will see ruin
And from Hlidskjalf
Odin will only see
His kingdom destroyed

The midgard serpent
Now rises from the sea
The mighty wolf
Unleashes it's fury
The serpent below
Eats away at the earth
With all their strength combined
Destruction lies ahead

Soon the time will come
When they'll show wrath
And none shall escape
The coming of Ragnarok

3. FIMBULWINTER

The darkening skies
Form on the horizon
Carrying ice cold winds
All throughout the land
With every second
It draws ever closer
I feel my time is
Is now growing short

The fimbulwinter
Now comes upon us
With unrelenting storms
Neverending snowfall
It is the first sign
Of the world's end
Unescapable fate
Of a foreseeable death

All hope's now lost
Nothing can be saved
Kingdoms lay in ruin
Empires diminished

All the souls before me
All life that flourished
Is now only buried
Not to be shown again

4. GNAWING AT THE ROOTS OF YGGDRASIL

Within the realm of Yggdrasil
The mighty Nidhogg resides
Wielding with strength beyond words
It awaits for world's demise
For the serpent's only purpose
Is to see every bit of life fail
Constantly eating at it's roots
Wanting destruction to prevail

No creature from above or far below
Will dare to stop it in it's quest
Mercy is a feeling the serpent never shows
For humanity it strongly detests

With every bite the serpent takes
It draws closer to meeting it's goal
It will continue to devour
Even if it takes an eternity

The creatures above constantly taunt
But Nidhogg will resist
For it knows that a day will come
Where all life will be destroyed
With every erected kingdom
And every existing empire
Will all eventually be
Reduced to nothingness

No creature from above or far below
Will dare to stop it in it's quest
Mercy is a feeling the serpent never shows
For humanity it strongly detests

Mighty Nidhogg
Bring forth the destruction
Topple the world above
Your time to rise
Is now

5. HE WHO DWELLS IN THE MARSHES

Birthed by the pagan gods
Instilling them with fear
Being kept locked away
No one dares to come near
My strength they cannot match
My size they can't comprehend
They're all afraid to look and see
That I’ll bring their lives to an end

Kept Restrained with these chains
Being imprisoned is the only way
For they know that If I’m freed
Death is what they'll receive
No matter what they use to bind
Whether it from god or man
It's already now too late
My path can't be redefined

They can mock me all they want
They'll know their day will come
One day my binds will break
And all shall know my rage

With all my strength
I break these chains
Bite the hands of those
Who fed me pain

Birthed by the pagan gods
Instilling them with fear
Being kept locked away
No one dares to come near
My strength they cannot match
My size they can't comprehend
They're all afraid to look and see
That I’ll bring their lives to an end

They can mock me all they want
They'll know their day will come
One day my binds will break
And all shall know my rage

6. JORMUNGANDR'S FATE

Son of Loki and Angrboda
I am the serpent of the seas
For as long as I Lived
I remained in midgard's waters
Taken by the gods above
Only to be thrown to the sea
Devouring ever single creature
To achieve my destiny

Now awoken from my slumber
I see my fate staring back at me
Thor the son of mighty Odin
Whose father cast me away
Filled with only anger and revenge
I swim back to the ocean's depths
And await for the time
Where we to do battle again

Many years have passed
The days are coming to an end
The time for battle is now
For it is our shared destiny
Soon Ragnarok's time will come
And all shall be destroyed
Skies will be clouded over
And all will tremble with fear

Now I lay upon the ground
With my soul leaving my body
For it was sealed in my fate
That I were to be slain
By the mighty son of Odin
Even though I lost the battle
Son of Odin will soon succumb
To the toxins released from me

7. The Eye of Odin

It seems for many years
I've traveled this very world
Even though I remain immortal
My mind has become tired
I wish to remain at home
But there's still a part of me
That keeps wanting to see
Every aspect of the world

I set out for one last journey
Through mountains and ice cold winds
Overcoming the snow storms
Finding the one they call
The ancient well of Mimir
I was unaware of the price
That I was needed to pay
For it was a very costly price

Through stone paths and rain
I finally come to the place
Guarded by the mighty giant
I offer to him my right eye
Looking into the waters
I kneel down before them
Cupping my hands together
And drink from the well of wisdom

I obtain all the wisdom one can have
But see nothing but sorrow and grief
Pain and suffering, war and famine
Even though I’ve obtained the power
I feel too weak to help
Too apathetic to care
So now until my time is over
I shall only watch from above
