2. FEASTER FROM THE STARS

They came in ships of cruel design
Emerged they from the clouds
Descended they and sprayed they fire
Upon the’ssembled crowd
We heard the screams of dear true friends
Our heroes burned alive
And felt the aliens laughing
As we watched our sisters die

The spindly beings were pale and slight
With murder did they speak
Their appetite was endless
Ecstatic the gourmand at feast
Perhaps were they an outcast sect
From gentler, nobler race-
Or were they merely parasites
Sucking our blood for the taste

With our cities burning down
Our resources plundered away
The aliens left as carelessly
And quickly as they came
But foolishly they left a word
Which hung upon the air--
Their planet’s name. And while we starve
Our thoughts are drifting there
